Discover the outcomes of the 2024 edition

Since its inauguration in 2018, Space Resources Week has become the event of reference for the space resources community.

We can see a clear evolution of thematic interests. In 2019 we explored the utilization scenarios for space resources, together with a comprehensive review of the regulatory, financial and business dimensions of this new emerging market. The following year, we delved into the space sector through the sustainability perspective and sought to understand how space resources can enhance life here on Earth. In 2023, the spotlight was on the synergies required for the development of an inclusive space resources ecosystem.

Throughout the past five editions of Space Resources Week, a shared ethos emerged: no one can do this alone, a sentiment embraced by the forthcoming 2024 edition. During the sixth edition of Space Resources Week, we brought together space agencies, thought leaders, scientists, and business visionaries in a multidisciplinary forum. With this edition, we aimed to strengthen the foundation on which the field of space resources is built, align the scientific and commercial needs and capabilities, and collectively develop a sustainable space resources architecture for the future.

We approached the 2024 edition as the opportunity to set priorities, strengthen coordinated activities and explore exciting new developments enabling humanity to go further into space, in a cleaner manner.

The event was organised by the European Space Resources Innovation Centre (ESRIC), in collaboration with the European Space Agency (ESA), the Luxembourg Space Agency (LSA) and the Luxembourg Institute for Science and Technology (LIST).

Each year, we ask the members of the community to submit an abstract, outlining an idea they would like to present during Space Resources Week. Through this exchange, we aim to create an inclusive ecosystem for collaboration and growth.

We were thrilled by the amount of abstracts received this year: 150 ideas have been submitted for the various topics. Our scientific committee comprising of experts from ESRIC, LSA and ESA have analysed all the submissions and we are happy to share the conference proceedings.

We were also honored to have the UNOOSA Expert meeting taking place at the same time and in the same venue.
